InteReg Progress Report, Friday 28 November 2025

On Friday 28 November, our entire InteReg Consortium met at the Biozentrum 1 (JGU Mainz) for a first Progress Report meeting after the Kick-off meeting. This first Progress Report meeting showed exciting results and demonstrated a strong cohesion among the groups. Particularly impressive was the high quality of the presentations given by our InteReg PhD students and Postdocs and how well they already interact across disciplines. Jenny, our PhD students/Postdocs coordinator presented a summary of the monthly meetings of our PhD students/Postdocs group and how these meetings greatly foster interactions and project advancement. Jenny also proposed an exciting plan for an InteReg PhD students/Postdocs retreat in 2026. In addition to presenting the progress of our project, the meeting also allowed the Consortium to discuss further development of the project. We thank all speakers and participants for a very productive meeting!

InteReg participants who made it until the end of the meeting! Thank you all and also to our members who had to leave a little earlier and are not on the picture.

InteReg receives support from ReALity!

Great news! On June 16, 2025, the ReALity initiative of JGU and the University Medical Center in Mainz approved our application for financial support of our Junior Group Leader Himanshu Mishra to complement the financial support already granted by the Carl-Zeiss Stiftung. Many thanks to the ReALity Steering Committee for integrating InteReg into their projects!

InteReg Kick-off event, Monday-Tuesday 19-20 May 2025: Inspiring, Exciting and Fun!

Who has ever experienced sitting in a seminar room the entire day when it is sunny outside and still enjoying it? Yesterday, Tuesday 20 May was one of these events for most if not all of the participants of the InteReg Kick-off Meeting! Very exciting interdisciplinary scientific sessions and inspiring talks of our Advisory Board members fostered discussions and interactions between InteReg members and associated scientists. The Kick-off was also very informative for students, Postdocs and PIs: Our Junior Group Leaders presented the Mentoring programs in Mainz, members of the National Strategy for Gene and Cell-based Therapies (GCT) informed about the networks and the GeneNovate Entrepreneurship Workshops, and Dr. Phil-Alan Gärtig from the Carl-Zeiss Stiftung explained the networking and further funding opportunities offered by the Carl-Zeiss Stiftung. A great two-day event that started with a networking dinner for the InteReg core team on Monday 19 May and ended with a networking get-together in the beautiful garden of Eulchen on Tuesday 20 May, both days generously accompanied with blue sky and sunshine! Many thanks to all speakers and participants, and also to the venues, who very professionally and with great flexibility hosted our InteReg Kick-off Meeting!

InteReg Project Launch Meeting, Thursday 20 February 2025

Great start for InteReg! InteReg group leaders met to discuss the project structure and organization. This was a very productive meeting that will foster scientific interactions and collaboration between research groups, with for instance a very strong networking set up for InteReg PhD students and Postdocs.
