InteReg is an interdisciplinary research consortium, whose mission is to develop therapeutic solutions based on interactive biomaterials to treat neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis and traumatic injuries such as brain and spinal cord injuries. InteReg is funded by the Carl Zeiss Stiftung (CZS Press release). JGU Press release in German and English
InteReg unites world-renown experts in the fields of Neurobiology, Neuroimmunology, Chemistry and Polymer Research (Link to our Team) to bridge Neuroregeneration and Soft Biomaterials, two Strongholds of research in Mainz, and make significant impacts in the development of Neuroregenerative Interactive Biomaterials.
InteReg is recruiting PhD students, who will work in project teams across disciplines to tackle 4 different Aims (Link to our Project). These PhD positions are fully funded by the Carl-Zeiss Stiftung and will start at the earliest in January 2025. Positions are currently available in the groups of Claire Jacob, Andreas Walther, Martin Heine, and Katharina Landfester.
To join our consortium for your PhD studies, please send to Claire Jacob (cjacob@uni-mainz.de, for applications in Neurobiology) or Andreas Walther (andreas.walther@uni-mainz.de, for applications in Chemistry, Polymer Research and DNA Nanoscience) a single pdf containing your CV, a letter of motivation indicating the group you wish to join, a detailed summary of your Master work, and the contact information of at least two references. Requirements are a Master in Biology, Neuroscience, Biomedicine, Chemistry, or related field, and a high dedication to Science!
About the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung
The Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung’s mission is to create an open environment for scientific breakthroughs. As a partner of excellence in science, it supports basic research as well as applied sciences in the STEM subject areas (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Founded in 1889 by the physicist and mathematician Ernst Abbe, the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung is one of the oldest and biggest private science funding institutions in Germany. It is the sole owner of Carl Zeiss AG and SCHOTT AG. Its projects are financed from the dividend distributions of the two foundation companies.
